Six fully customisable starting templates. Cairo, the Nile, Abu Simbel, Alexandria — built around your dates, your group, and your interests. One quote, one Egyptian operator, no middlemen, unlimited revisions.
An Egypt tailor made holiday with us means your trip is built around you — your dates, your group, your hotel category, your interests, your budget — not slotted into a fixed package. The 6 itineraries below are starting templates: every component (hotels, cruise vessel, internal flights, guides, day excursions) is editable, and revisions are free and unlimited until you're happy.
We are a Cairo-based, Egyptian-owned operator — not a reseller. When you customise an Egypt Planners holiday, the same office that quotes you also dispatches the airport transfer, books the hotel rooms, charters the cruise cabins, and pays the Egyptologist guide who walks you into Karnak Temple in Luxor. There is no middleman to email when something needs to change mid-trip — you message Maro on WhatsApp, and the change happens.
Most tailor-made requests start from one of the 6 templates below and end up looking quite different. Common customisations: an extra Luxor day, a swap to a small dahabiya cruise, an Abu Simbel add-on, an Alexandria day, an extension to the White Desert and Bahariya Oasis, or a beach extension to Hurghada or El Gouna. Whether you want a luxury Egypt holiday, a honeymoon, a family trip or a solo adventure, we have built it before — and we will build it again, around your version of Egypt.
Four steps from your first message to a confirmed itinerary. Free quote, free revisions.
Send your dates, group size and a short wishlist — or pick one of the 6 templates below as a starting point. No form, no commitment.
Within 4 hours during Cairo working hours we send a fully itemised itinerary, two or three hotel options at each city, and a transparent line-by-line price.
Free unlimited revisions. Most clients go through 3–4 versions before sign-off — extra Luxor day, Abu Simbel swap, hotel upgrade. We don't charge for any of it.
Once you sign off, a 25% deposit secures the trip. Final balance 30 days before arrival. We send a 40-page pre-trip pack a week before you fly.
Filter by length, cruise inclusion or Abu Simbel — or browse all six. Every itinerary is fully customisable.

Cairo-based, Egyptian-owned travel operator — not a reseller. Six reasons that matters.
Maro and the team are born-and-raised Egyptian. Every guide is a qualified Egyptologist, not a part-time driver. The custom itinerary you sign off is the itinerary we run.
Every quote is itemised — hotel, cruise cabin, internal flight, guide day-rate, every entry fee. You see exactly which line moves the price when you customise.
From the first quote until you're back home, you have Maro's direct WhatsApp. Mid-trip changes? Most happen in under an hour, no extra cost if same-rate.
The customisation process has no cap on revisions. Most clients land on version 3 or 4 of the itinerary. We don't bill for any of it — only for the trip you actually book.
56 verified reviews, 98% recommend rate. Same company, same Egyptian founder, since 2013 — not a freshly-rebranded operator.
Confirm 4+ months ahead and we throw in one free extra: hot-air balloon over Luxor, camel ride at the pyramids, or an Abu Simbel day trip. Your choice, not ours.
We've built custom Egypt itineraries for travellers from 32 countries in the past 12 months. Dedicated country desks for the four biggest source markets.
Direct flights from JFK, IAD, ORD & LAX. Peak for Americans: Oct–Feb. Custom 10 and 12-day trips dominate US bookings.
Direct BA & EgyptAir from Heathrow and Manchester. Peak for Brits: Nov–March. Custom 8 and 10-day trips are the UK favourite.
Via Dubai or Doha. Peak for Aussies: April–May & Sept–Oct. Custom 14+ day Egypt & Jordan combo trips most common.
Via Europe or Gulf hubs. Peak for Canadians: Oct–March. Cold-escape custom 10–12 day trips are our Canadian best-seller.

EXCELLENT rating · 56 reviews · Real guests from the past two seasons.
Il tour è stato molto interessante e la nostra guida Khaled molto preparato. Ha saputo bilanciare i tempi delle diverse tappe, è stato molto esauriente e disponibile. Grazie!
We chose this tour company to empower local guides and we were very satisfied with our decision. Maria is a passionate accredited Egyptologist who can answer every question. The transportation is modern, clean and always on time — difficult to manage in a city like Cairo.
Maro and his team customised everything — Cairo, cruise, Abu Simbel, even a last-minute Alexandria add-on. Hotels were 5-star without the 5-star headache. Our guide Ahmed made the Valley of the Kings actually make sense. Will book again.
After building 1,200+ custom Egypt itineraries, these are the ten things I tell every traveller before we start designing. Bookmark this — it will save you a revision round.
Tell us how many days you have first. We work back from there. Eight days is the sweet spot for first-time visitors (Cairo + 3-night cruise + Abu Simbel). Five is the lightest valid Cairo + Luxor option. Ten unlocks Abu Simbel and Alexandria comfortably. Fourteen opens up the Red Sea or the western desert.
Most Egypt holidays anchor on one of three things: Cairo and the pyramids, a Nile cruise, or Red Sea beach time. Pick one as your priority and we build the other two around it without rushing. Trying to give all three equal weight in under 10 days produces a rushed trip.
Saying "5-star throughout" or "boutique 4-star" is more useful than naming hotels we may not control on your dates. We default to Marriott Mena House, Sofitel Winter Palace, Movenpick Aswan; we swap freely on request. Honeymooners — ask for the pyramid-view rooms early, they sell first.
A standard 5-star Nile cruise (140 cabins, large pool deck) is a different experience from a dahabiya (12 cabins, sail-powered, slower pace). Dahabiyas only run Esna–Aswan, take 5 nights, and cost roughly 50% more. Decide before we plan — it changes the whole itinerary.
Abu Simbel is a 4am start by road or a 6am domestic flight from Aswan. It costs $180–380 per person on top of the package. Decide yes or no early — it shifts the whole Aswan day. Our 8-day Best-Seller and 10-day templates already include it; on shorter trips we add it.
Kids do better with one "fun thing" per day mixed in with the historical sites — camel ride at Giza, cooking class in Aswan, sound-and-light at Karnak, Nile cruise pool day. Tell us ages 5–12 are involved and we build that pacing in. Family Egypt holidays are roughly 30% of our bookings.
Honeymoon couples care about the rooms, not the price. Pre-book the pyramid-view rooms at Marriott Mena House and the Nile-balcony cabins on the cruise — they sell out fastest, often four months out for high season. We hold the option for 48h while you decide.
Solo travellers pay a single supplement of 30–55% on private trips. Ask us if any of our small-group departures (max 8 people) match your dates — same itinerary, you keep your own room, and it's 30–55% cheaper than going fully private. We post departure dates 6 months out.
Egypt logistics are smoother south of Cairo. If you want a buffer day to recover from international travel, slot it on the front end in Cairo, not in Luxor. Cairo has more rest and food options; Luxor and Aswan have more sites to pack in. We always recommend at least one full Cairo day before flying south.
There is no charge for the customisation process and no cap on revisions. Most clients land on version 3 or 4 of the itinerary before sign-off. Start the conversation now and revise from there — there is no commitment, no deposit asked at the quote stage. Same-day reply during Cairo working hours.
Want our 40-page pre-trip pack (packing list, visa walkthrough, cultural dos & don'ts, Cairo etiquette, tipping card)? It's free for every confirmed Egypt Planners guest.
Ten honest answers from our Cairo office — the same answers you'd get on WhatsApp.
Tailor made on an Egypt Planners holiday means we build the trip around your dates, your travelling group, your interests and your budget — not the other way around. The 6 itineraries on this page are starting templates: every hotel, every cruise vessel, every guide, every excursion, even the order of the cities is editable. We have customised every itinerary on this page for guests in the past month — extra Luxor day, swap to dahabiya cruise, add Bahariya Oasis, slow Cairo down, drop Alexandria, upgrade to private jet between Cairo and Aswan. Send us a starting template and a one-paragraph wishlist; we send back a full custom version, usually the same day.
Not significantly — and often less. Because we operate every component in-house (no middleman, no reseller margins), customising a hotel night, swapping in a domestic flight or upgrading a Nile cruise vessel typically costs the same as it would on a fixed package. The main cost lever is hotel category and cruise vessel: a 5-star-throughout custom trip lands roughly 20–35% above the same itinerary in 4-star, and a luxury Nile cruise (Sanctuary Sun Boat IV, Oberoi Philae) adds about $400–600 per person versus our standard 5-star cruise. We give you a fully itemised quote so you can see exactly which line moves the price.
Eight days is the sweet spot for a first Egypt visit — it lets us cover Cairo, a 3 or 4-night Nile cruise, and either Abu Simbel or Alexandria without a single rushed morning. Five days is the absolute minimum for Cairo plus a Luxor flight (no cruise). Ten days gives you full Cairo, full cruise, Abu Simbel and Alexandria in one comfortable trip. Beyond fourteen days we usually add the Red Sea (Hurghada, El Gouna or Sharm) for beach and reef time, or the western desert (Bahariya, the White Desert, Siwa) for adventure travellers. We do build trips as short as a 4-day Cairo break and as long as a 21-day Egypt grand tour.
Yes — every component. Hotels: we default to handpicked 4 and 5-star properties (Marriott Mena House, Sofitel Winter Palace, Movenpick Aswan), but every property is swappable on request. Nile cruise: we book Sonesta St. George and Mövenpick SB by default; upgrades to luxury vessels (Oberoi Philae, Sanctuary Sun Boat IV, dahabiya boats) cost extra but we pass through the operator price. Guides: every Egyptologist on our team is a qualified, ministry-licensed Egyptologist with a history degree — name preference accepted (we work with the same dozen Egyptologists every year).
Step 1: send us a message on WhatsApp with your dates, group size and a rough wishlist (or use one of the 6 templates above as a starting point). Step 2: we reply same-day with a custom itinerary, an itemised quote, and 2–3 hotel options at each city. Step 3: you reply with edits — we go back and forth as many times as needed, no fee for revisions. Step 4: once you sign off, a 25% deposit confirms the trip. Step 5: final balance due 30 days before arrival. We send a 40-page pre-trip pack (visa walkthrough, packing list, tipping card, daily timings) one week before you fly.
Free date-change up to 30 days before arrival. Free name-change on the booking up to 14 days before. Cancellation: we refund 100% of your deposit minus any non-refundable hotel deposits up to 60 days before arrival, 50% between 60 and 30 days, and 0% inside 30 days (standard travel-industry terms). Most of our changes happen mid-trip — adding an extra Luxor day, swapping a cruise excursion, extending the Cairo end. Mid-trip changes are usually free if we can rebook at the same rate, otherwise we just pass through the supplier difference.
The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM, opened 2025 next to the Giza Pyramids) is included by default on every Cairo day on every itinerary on this page — entry, guiding and transport are part of the standard quote. Abu Simbel is included by default on the 8-day with Abu Simbel and 10-day templates. On any other template, Abu Simbel can be added as a one-day excursion from Aswan, either by domestic flight (faster, about $380 per person) or by road (cheaper, earlier start, about $180 per person). Tell us during the customisation conversation and we will quote it line-by-line.
Yes — the tourist zones (Cairo, Giza, Luxor, Aswan, Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Abu Simbel, Alexandria) are heavily protected, and the tourism and antiquities police presence is high. We run dozens of family trips with kids as young as five, and a meaningful share of our bookings are solo travellers (especially women aged 35+). Your private guide travels with you the entire day, and all transfers are in private, tracked vehicles. We do not route into the Sinai interior or near the Libyan border. US, UK, Canadian and Australian governments all currently list our operating zones as safe for travel with normal precautions — you can check those advisories yourself before booking.
International flights: we can book them as part of your tailor made package (we work with EgyptAir, BA, Lufthansa, Emirates and Qatar) but most travellers find slightly better prices booking directly with airlines or a flight aggregator. We are happy either way. Egypt e-visa: $25, applied online at visa2egypt.gov.eg, takes 5–7 business days — we send you the exact walkthrough. Travel insurance: not included in the package, but strongly recommended. We can connect you to two providers we trust (World Nomads for under-65, Allianz for over-65) but you book direct.
For October–April (high season) book at least 3 months ahead — Nile cruise cabins, Giza-view hotel rooms and Abu Simbel flights all sell out. For December 24 through January 5 and Easter week, book 6 months out. For May–September (shoulder / summer) 4–6 weeks is usually enough; summer trips are also 15–25% cheaper. We can often still build a tailor made trip 10–14 days out, but you will have less choice of cruise vessel and less negotiating room on hotel categories. The earlier you book, the more upgrades we can include at no extra cost.
A quick map of the topics this page answers, so you (and the search engines quoting it) can jump straight to what matters.
Send us your dates. We'll send back a fully customised itinerary, line-by-line pricing, and 2–3 hotel options at each city — usually within 4 hours.
