13+ years planning Egypt trips

📍 Cairo, Egypt

I plan the Egypt trips I'd want my own family on.

I'm Maro — the person behind every itinerary, email reply and WhatsApp message at Egypt Planners. For the last 13 years I've been quietly obsessed with one question: how do you give someone the Egypt of their dreams in the two weeks they actually have?

I'm Maro, and Egypt Planners is my life's work, not my day job. I grew up in Cairo, studied tourism and guiding here, and spent the first years of my career leading groups on foot — Pyramids at 7am, Karnak at sunset, sleeper trains to Luxor back when that was still the way you got there.

Over 13+ years I've personally planned trips for over 1,200 families and couples from 32 different countries. Americans celebrating retirements, British families showing their kids the Pyramids for the first time, Australian honeymooners after a quiet felucca sunset, Canadian solo travellers on their first trip outside North America. Every trip was different. Every trip was built from a blank page.

What I've learned in those years is simple: the difference between a good Egypt trip and a trip you never forget is a hundred small decisions. Which room on which boat. Which hour to enter which temple. Which guide. Which driver. Which restaurant. Those decisions are what I quietly obsess over — so you don't have to.

I don't run a big agency with hundreds of staff. I run a tight team of Egyptologists, drivers and friends I've worked with for years. When you book with Egypt Planners, you get me — my phone number, my WhatsApp, my inbox — from the first message until you're home and writing the review.

If Egypt is on your list, send me a message. Tell me who's coming, roughly when, and what you're hoping to feel at the end of it. I'll take it from there.

What I Plan

Six kinds of Egypt trips I’ve spent 13 years refining.

Everything below is a trip I can build start to finish — flights, hotels, boats, guides, drivers, private access, the works.

Pharaonic History & Temples

Pyramids, Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel — I've walked every pathway more times than I can count, and I know the hours where they're almost empty.

Nile Cruises

From 3-night Aswan–Luxor sailings to 11-night dahabiyas — I've sailed every boat, met every captain, and know which cabin on which deck is worth asking for.

Family & Multi-gen Trips

Grandparents, kids, picky teenagers — I've planned the logistics for all of them. Nobody gets bored. Nobody gets burnt out. Nobody walks more than they want to.

Honeymoons & Private Escapes

Candlelit dinners on the Nile, private hot-air balloons over Luxor, last-minute room upgrades I can still sometimes pull off. This is the trip you remember forever.

Multi-country Itineraries

Egypt + Jordan, Egypt + Dubai, Egypt + Morocco — I've routed them all. I'll tell you when combining is worth it and when it isn't.

Completely Bespoke

If a template doesn't fit, I build from a blank page. Diving Sharm El Sheikh, desert nights in Siwa, Coptic churches in Minya — whatever makes your trip yours.

Things I Tell Everyone

A few thoughts on planning Egypt.

The three things I end up repeating on almost every first call — written down once, here.

On why private beats group tours in Egypt

I've watched too many travellers arrive at the Pyramids at 10am on a bus and leave with photos of other tourists' heads. Egypt rewards the people who get up early, move at their own pace, and spend one more quiet hour at Karnak while everyone else rushes to lunch. A private guide isn't a luxury here — it's how you actually see the country.

On the "safe Egypt" question I get every week

I live here. My nieces and nephews play in these streets. Egypt in 2026 is safer for tourists than most of the cities you've already visited — it's just that the story never moved on from headlines a decade old. I'm happy to get on a video call and show you what it actually looks like.

On timing — when to come

Everyone asks me for the "best" time. The truthful answer: November to February for the sites, March and April for the best cruise weather, September for the best deals if you can handle some heat. I'll match your dates to the Egypt you want — not the other way around.
