The single biggest quality difference on a luxury Egypt trip is which Nile boat you sail. Ask for a specific vessel — the Historia, Oberoi Zahra, MS Tosca or Movenpick Royal Lotus — not just "5-star cruise". Cabin number and deck level matter too; upper-deck balcony cabins are worth the upgrade.

For luxury travel, book earlier than a standard trip — the best five-star suites, the Old Cataract in Aswan, and cabins on the Oberoi and Sanctuary cruise vessels sell out months ahead, especially for October–April. We recommend 4–6 months for high season, and 6–8 months for Christmas, New Year and Easter. A private dahabiya charter should be booked as early as possible because only a handful sail. That said, we can sometimes assemble a luxury trip at shorter notice — you will simply have less choice of the very top cabins and suites.
