One Day Trip to Alexandria from Cairo Itinerary

After a delicious breakfast at your accommodation, you will start your wonderful day tour to Alexandria by meeting your private tour guide specializing in Egyptology in a private A/C vehicle to start visiting the following:

Catacombs at Kom el Shoqafa

The Romans built the catacombs in Kom el Shoqafa in the shape of a triangle, and their decorations reflect a mixture of elements from the Egyptian and Roman pantheons.

Alexandria Library

The Library of Alexandria is one of the most important offices in the world, and even the most important of them in the ancient era. The god Amun-Ra and the Lighthouse of Alexandria were referred to in the architecture of the new Library of Alexandria, and there are a number of museums, a printing factory, a laboratory, and a planetarium in addition to libraries.

Lunch

Before continuing, we will take a break to eat and recharge. Lunch will be in a restaurant, and Egyptian food options are generally offered, including meat dishes, rice, and salads (drinks are not included).

Citadel of Qaitbay

Sultan Qaitbay built this picturesque castle during the 14th century to defend Alexandria from the encroaching Ottoman Empire. Which is now one of the most important monuments in Alexandria due to its excellent location and the beauty of its design.

Pompey’s Pillar

The magnificent Pompey’s Pillar that adorns one of the sites in Alexandria refers to a place that was once a huge and magnificent temple, built of marble and decorated with precious metals inside. Some of the tunnels around the complex are still open for tourists to explore.

After these fruitful visits, we will return you to your accommodation in Cairo to relax and spend a peaceful night.

‘m a huge history buff, so I was really excited to book a group day trip to Alexandria from Cairo. I wasn’t disappointed! Alexandria is home to some of the most important historical sites in Egypt, and our guide did a fantastic job explaining each site’s history and significance.

We visited the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, Pompey’s Pillar, Fort Qaitbey, and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. I was particularly impressed with the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa. These ancient tombs are a unique blend of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman influences, and I was fascinated by their beauty and complexity.

I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning more about the history and culture of Egypt. Alexandria is a truly special city, and this tour is a great way to experience it all.

My guide, Mohammed, was very knowledgeable and friendly, and he made sure that I got to see all of the most important sights, including the Catacombs of Kom el-Shuqqafa, Pompey’s Pillar, the Citadel of Qaitbay, and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

I was particularly impressed with the Catacombs, which are a vast underground network of tombs and chambers. Mohammed explained the history and significance of the Catacombs in great detail, and I was really grateful for his insights.

I would highly recommend this tour to any solo traveler interested in learning more about the history and culture of Alexandria. Mohammed was a great guide, and I felt very safe and well-cared for throughout the day.

I recently had the opportunity to take a day trip to Alexandria from Cairo with my husband, and we had an absolutely amazing time! The tour was very well-organized, and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We were picked up from our hotel in Cairo in a comfortable air-conditioned car, and we drove to Alexandria in about two hours.

Our first stop was Pompey’s Pillar, which is a towering Roman column that overlooks the city. We then went to the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, which are an underground burial complex that was built in the first century AD. Finally, we visited the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which is a modern library that was built on the site of the ancient Library of Alexandria.

We had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, and we spent some time exploring the city center before we were driven back to our hotel in Cairo.

Overall, we had a fantastic time on our day trip to Alexandria, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and informative day out from Cairo.
