What to pack to Egypt

What to Bring on Your Journey to Egypt

What to pack to Egypt? What Should You Bring with You to Egypt? How should I dress in Egypt? It would help to think about these things as you plan your trip to Egypt.

But don’t be confused; it’s easy to understand. In this article, we tried to list most of the things you’ll need on vacation in Egypt.

A trip through Egypt will take you to a legendary place to see some of the most amazing things people have ever done.

Egypt is a country that spans two continents and has many exciting things to learn about. Some of the best things to see in the country are the Nile River, especially in Luxor and Aswan, Cairo’s famous pyramids, and the historic Red Sea.

When you go to Egypt, you will see many different ways of life. But the country is very well set up to welcome people from all over the world.

If you want to learn about Egyptian culture, there are two essential things to remember as you pack your bags.

  • First: The climate of Egypt.
  • Second: The religion to which the population belongs.

Here are some tips on what to bring to Egypt so you don’t do anything wrong or rude while there.

What to Pack for Egypt?

Travel Luggage

Choose luggage that is easy to spot on the luggage belt and very safe for your trip to Egypt.

Carry-On Bag

If you check your bags, you’ll need a carry-on bag on the plane with a few necessities. It is also small enough to be a “personal item” if you fly to Egypt without checking your luggage.

Extra Duffel Bag

Egypt is a great place to shop, and it’s impossible to go there and not buy a few souvenirs to bring back home. Invest in this “just in case” duffel bag to ensure you have enough space for your new treasures. It’s very light and folds up so small that it doesn’t take up much room in your bag. And it’s vital to fill it with your new Egyptian gifts.

Travel Pillow

Unless you’re in business class, you’ll probably have trouble sleeping on the flight to Egypt. This travel pillow is small, light, and very comfortable, and it will keep you from falling asleep on your neighbor’s shoulder.

Electronics to Pack for Egypt

What to pack to Egypt

Camera

Egypt has so many incredible old ruins to photograph that you would be doing yourself a disservice if you only used your phone camera.

Universal Travel Adapter

If you are traveling from the United States to Egypt, you will need a converter to charge your electronics. Buy a universal adapter with multiple USB ports in most countries and charge multiple devices simultaneously.

Power Bank

You’ll probably use Google Maps on your phone all day to find your way around Egypt. And your GPS uses up your battery faster than anything else. Use a power bank to keep your phone charged all day.

Earbuds or Headphone

Travel Gear Organizer

With a gear organizer, you can keep your chargers, cables, earbuds, and other items for Egypt in one place. Please keep it in your carry-on to easily play it on the plane.

Toiletries to Pack for Egypt

Toiletries

Almost every city in Egypt has a pharmacy, so don’t worry if you forget something. But here are some health and beauty items you’ll want to bring with you to Egypt:

  • Sunscreen
  • Face-washing
  • Cream for the face and body
  • The shampoo and conditioner
  • Body wash
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss for your teeth
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Deodorant
  • Make-up
  • Any prescriptions
  • Brush for hair and hair ties
  • Hair dryer for travel
  • Two tools in one: curling iron and straightener for travel

Accessories for Egypt

Shoulder Bag

Keeping a close eye on your things in big cities is always a good idea. You can keep your cash and credit cards close to your body, and hard to get to in a cross-body bag with a zip closure.

Scarf

Since Islam is the main religion, you’ll see a lot of beautiful mosques while you’re there. Keep a scarf in your purse to cover your head before entering.

Sun Hat

During the day, when it is hot, you will need a hat and sunscreen to walk around the Pyramids of Giza. It would help if you did what you could to protect yourself from the sun in Egypt.

Sunglasses

If you want to protect yourself from the sun, don’t forget to bring your sunglasses. Choose a pair with UV protection and polarisation to protect your eyes from the sun’s rays. Don’t forget to bring a sturdy case to keep them safe in your carry-on.

Clothing to Pack for Egypt

Dresses

In the summer, Egypt can get much hotter than 45 c, and the sun never stops shining in the desert for most of the year. Dresses that are long and have a loose fit will keep you cool and cover you up.

Pack at least four comfortable, loose-fitting dresses so you don’t have to worry about finding a laundry service while on vacation.

Sweater Warm

No matter what time of year you go to Egypt, you should always bring a sweater. You’ll use it for cool nights or extra protection during your trip. Choose something simple, light, and not too big because it will take up a lot of space in your bag.

Long Pants

Egypt is usually very hot during the day, but the temperature can drop quickly when the sun goes down. Make sure to bring a few pairs of pants, so you don’t get cold when you go out at night.

And bring at least one more pair that is stretchy, comfortable, and can be dressed up or down depending on what you’re doing that day.

Shoes

Comfortable Closed-Toe Flats

Egypt’s streets can be very bumpy and dusty, so if you wear flip-flops, your feet will probably be dirty by the end of the day. And you should bring several pairs of shoes to Egypt because you will walk a lot.

Pack a pair of boots with dresses and casual shoes for days you will walk a lot. Don’t wear white shoes because Egypt is dusty and won’t look the same when you get home.

Other Important Clothes to Bring to Egypt:

  • Bring a swimsuit and a cover-up if your hotel has a pool or you’re going to the beach.
  • Flip-flops for the beach or the pool.
  • Bring gym clothes and shoes if your hotel has a gym.
  • Every day, one pair of underwear.
  • Every day, one pair of socks.
  • Pajamas

Travel Safety and First Aid

Passport

Like many other countries, Egypt requires a valid passport and enough blank pages to put the country’s entry and exit stamps.

Visa

It is important to note that some countries need a visa to enter Egypt. Getting a visa is usually a simple process. In some countries, you can buy the visa when you arrive at the airport or ask for it in advance at the Egyptian embassy in your country. The most important thing is that you can check the website of the Egyptian consulate in your country to ensure you need a visa.

People from the US, UK, EU, Australia, Canada, Croatia, Croatia, Georgia, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Macedonia, the Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Serbia, and Ukraine can get a visa when they arrive at an Egyptian port of entry.

Your visa will cost you $25 per person, and you must pay cash for it. In US dollars, to be exact. You can change your money at the same counter if you don’t have US dollars for the visa.

Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months after the date you plan to enter Egypt. If it isn’t, you may not be allowed to enter.

Travel Insurance

You need travel insurance if things (hopefully don’t, but often do) go wrong.

Luggage Locks

Your stuff can get stolen from your suitcase, whether going through airport security, taking a bus or train, or staying at a hostel (or hotel).

Medicines

If you need a specific medicine, you should bring it from your home country along with a prescription from your doctor. You should also know the active ingredients in case you need to buy something else; we might not be able to find the same brand we’re used to.

What to Wear in Egypt?

Egypt has high temperatures, so clothes should be light, fresh, and preferably light-colored to avoid the sun’s intense rays.

The Muslim religion dramatically impacts how people dress, which is why it is so conservative, especially for women. This is especially true when going to places of worship.

Because of this, it is suggested:

What should women wear in Egypt?

As a woman traveling in Egypt, you must consider what you will wear. Egypt is a Muslim country, so Egyptian women don’t dress like women in the West.

The truth is that there are no rules about how to dress in Egypt, but we think that if you dress in a certain way, you can avoid some uncomfortable situations.

We generally don’t wear short pants or skirts, tank tops, tops with low necklines, or clothes that are too tight. We prefer to wear thin, loose-fitting pants that reach the knee and are more comfortable and relaxed.

From the top down, we like to wear T-shirts with wide sleeves and shoulders that are covered. Also, this way, we don’t get burned by the Egyptian sun, which is vital.

If you want to go to a mosque, you might have to cover up if they think your clothes don’t fit the place. Because of this, we usually keep a handkerchief in our backpacks, which is generally very useful in these situations.

We can’t assume that this only happens in Muslim countries because if you go to a Catholic church or a Buddhist temple, you’ll almost certainly have to wear certain clothes to get in.

If you go to the Red Sea’s more touristy areas and want to use your hotel’s facilities or swimming pool, you can wear a swimsuit or bikini, but you should avoid mini bikinis.

But if you’re going to less touristy places where people aren’t used to seeing tourists in bathing suits, it might be best to bathe with some clothes on (a T-shirt, for example).

For men: What to Wear in Egypt?

It is better to wear long pants and not show skin, especially when we go out in public or want to go to the mosque. You can wear a short-sleeved shirt, but it’s always a good idea to cover your shoulders and wear light, breathable clothing.

We often walk in Egypt and get exposed to dust and dirt, so wearing comfortable shoes is always a good idea.

Things can be slightly different when deciding what to wear in Egypt in October or November, especially at night, when things get more casual. We suggest wearing long sleeves and even a jacket.

General tips for Men & Women

  • When it comes to shoes, they have to be comfortable. A pair of slippers that can breathe will be enough to keep out dirt and dust, and a couple of sandals are all you need to relax.
  • Wearing a hat or cap and a good pair of dark glasses is essential to stay safe from the sun’s heat. If we’re near the water, we should also bring a swimsuit.
  • Bringing a coat or jacket at night is also good when the temperature drops.

When to Visit Egypt?

Egypt is a great place to visit any time of year because the weather is usually lovely. You might not want to go to Luxor and Aswan in the middle of summer, but you can always go to the Red Sea or Alexandria.

November to March is the best time for people who want winter sun, and there are usually fewer people, except when schools are on break. Egypt’s winters are mild and sunny, except maybe in Alexandria, where it might rain.

April through May and September through October are the best times to visit Egypt, especially if you want to see the North and South. Now that it’s warmer, you can go hiking and spend time at the beach.

If you don’t mind the heat, June through August is the best time to go to the beach or pool in Egypt. This is the busiest time of year at the Red Sea, while temperatures over 40C degrees keep people away from Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan.
